
Class Description
Join instructor Monica Sellens us for a fun and creative sewing class where you’ll learn to make a 7” x 10” fabric-wrapped rope basket! This hands-on workshop will guide you through wrapping bias strips of fabric around cotton clothesline and stitching them together using a zigzag stitch to create a stylish and functional 7” x 10” oval basket. Instructions for making a round basket will also be covered!
Participants must have a general knowledge of basics sewing skills and able to use straight and zigzag stitches on a sewing machine.
What Will I Learn?
By the end of the class, you’ll have a beautiful handmade basket and the skills to make more at home! This is a great way to use up extra fabric, and once you learn the basics, you might find it addictive!
Supply List
Participants required to bring the following supplies to class:

- Sewing Machine – machine must be able to sew 1/4″ thickness
- Rotary cutter, mat, and clear measuring tool (extras available if needed)
- 2 or more heavy-weight or jeans sewing needles
- 3/4 yard cotton fabric – quilting prints or batiks work best
- Optional: 1/2 yard of a coordinating print for a stripe accent
- Thread and bobbin – match the dominant color of your fabric
- Basic sewing tools including, but not limited to scissors, straight pins, and seam ripper/li>
