Class Description
Join us at the Hansen Museum on February 28 and March 1 for a beginner-friendly Mixed Media Painting Class with the talented Sandy Seamone. These classes are designed for aspiring artists looking to explore their creativity while learning new techniques in a supportive environment.

Supplies Needed for Saturday’s Class:

- Basic Supplies: Easel, Palette, Odorless Thinner, Red and Black Ink Pens (not gel), #2 Pencil, Styrofoam Plates, Containers for Water and Thinner, Paper Towels, Q-tips, 16 x 20 Canvas. If you choose the 16 x 20 canvas you must design the foreground.
- Acrylics Paints: Bright Yellow, Red/Crimson, Dark Green, Nutmeg Brown, Burnt Umber, White, Bright Blue, Purple
- Oil Paints: Liquid Clear or Liquin, Titanium White, Med Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Sap Green, Burnt Umber, Dark Sienna, Alizarin Crimson, Phthalo Blue, Dioxazine Purple

Class: Mix Media Painting with Sandy

Class Description
Fabric-Wrapped Basket Workshop
Join instructor Monica Sullens for a fun and creative sewing class where you’ll learn to make a 7” x 10” fabric-wrapped rope basket. In this hands-on workshop, participants will transform cotton clothesline and colorful fabric into a stylish and functional oval basket using a sewing machine and zigzag stitch.
This class is perfect for those who enjoy sewing and are looking for a practical project with beautiful results. It’s also a wonderful way to use up extra fabric from your stash. Once you learn the technique, you may find yourself wanting to make baskets in all shapes and sizes!
By the end of class, you’ll leave with a finished basket and the confidence to continue creating at home.

- How to wrap bias fabric strips around cotton clothesline
- How to use a zigzag stitch to securely join wrapped rope
- Techniques for shaping and forming a 7” x 10” oval basket
- Tips for creating a round basket (instructions included)
- Helpful sewing techniques to ensure stability and structure
You’ll gain practical skills, creative inspiration, and a finished basket ready to use or gift.

Supply List
Participants required to bring the following supplies to class:

- Sewing Machine – machine must be able to sew 1/4″ thickness
- Rotary cutter, mat, and clear measuring tool (extras available if needed)
- 2 or more heavy-weight or jeans sewing needles
- 3/4 yard cotton fabric – quilting prints or batiks work best
- Optional: 1/2 yard of a coordinating print for a stripe accent
- Thread and bobbin – match the dominant color of your fabric
- Basic sewing tools including, but not limited to scissors, straight pins, and seam ripper/li>

Class Description
Discover the art of needle felting — a dry felting technique that transforms soft wool roving into charming three-dimensional objects or beautifully textured landscapes suitable for framing. This engaging fiber arts class offers a creative and relaxing experience for beginners and seasoned makers alike.
Instruction will be led by Marsha Jensen of Manhattan, Kansas, who brings both skill and encouragement to the classroom.
All supplies are included in the registration fee, and each participant will receive their own felting toolkit to take home. Join us for a fun and creative experience, and leave with your own handmade felted masterpiece!
What Will I Learn?
In this hands-on class, you will learn the fundamentals of needle felting, beginning with simple shapes to build your skills and confidence. As the class progresses, you will apply those techniques to create your own unique felted landscape. Whether you are new to fiber arts or looking to explore a new creative outlet, this class offers a relaxed and encouraging environment to learn.
