Class: Mix Media Painting with Sandy

Class Description
Join us for a fun and creative project-based crochet class where you’ll make your very own adorable teddy bear! Guided by instructor April Teves, participants will be led step-by-step through reading and understanding a crochet pattern while completing the stitches needed to bring a small teddy bear to life. Your finished bear will measure approximately 6–8 inches tall in a sitting position — the perfect handmade keepsake or heartfelt gift.
This is not a beginner class. Participants should have intermediate crochet skills and be comfortable with basic stitches and working in the round. In this supportive and welcoming environment, you’ll build on your existing skills while creating something charming and unique.
What Will I Learn?
During this class, you will strengthen your ability to confidently read and follow a crochet pattern while applying essential techniques used in amigurumi (stuffed crochet projects). Skills covered include creating a magic circle, working single crochet stitches, and mastering single crochet increases and decreases to shape your teddy bear.
Most participants will complete their teddy bear during class. However, depending on individual pace, some may need to finish a few final steps at home. You will leave with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to complete your project independently if necessary, as well as the foundational techniques to continue creating small stuffed crochet projects on your own.
Supply List
Participants required to bring the following supplies to class:
- Yarn of your choice
- Pattern sample used 364 yards of Red Heart Comfort yarn with a 4.0 mm hook. April recommends purchasing extra yarn to ensure you have enough to complete your project. Yarn weight will determine the size of your bear and the hook size needed.
- Experienced crocheters may choose “fur” yarn if desired
- Crochet hook (size appropriate for your yarn choice)
- Blunt-end yarn needle (for sewing pieces together)
- Scissors
- Polyester stuffing (approximately 100 grams)
- Stitch marker
Instructor will provide the following supplies:
