Artist of the Month

Establishing and cultivating relationships with local makers and creatives is one way we invest in our community. The Artist of the Month Contest serves as inspiration, challenging them to keep creating and growing.

Each year, exhibitors in our Arts and Crafts Fair participate in the Artist of the Month contest. Twelve winners are chosen for their uniqueness, creativity, presentation, individual art form, and excellence of their craft.

In addition to receiving special recognition for their achievement, their works are displayed and available for purchase in the Museum for their honored month.

Come support our artist of the month: The Hansen Museum is pleased to feature Mike and Sheri Dinkel of Prairie Star Apiary as our June Artists of the Month. Based in Hill City, Kansas, Prairie Star Honey is a family-owned business offering locally produced honey harvested from the Dinkels’ own apiaries.

Dedicated to producing high-quality honey, Mike and Sheri carefully manage their hives and harvest honey that reflects the unique flavors of the Kansas prairie. Their display features a variety of honey products, including both light and dark honey, along with educational information about beekeeping and the vital role honeybees play in agriculture and our environment. Through their commitment to quality and stewardship, the Dinkels share the sweetness of Kansas one jar at a time.
