Artist of the Month

Establishing and cultivating relationships with local makers and creatives is one way we invest in our community. The Artist of the Month Contest serves as inspiration, challenging them to keep creating and growing.

Each year, exhibitors in our Arts and Crafts Fair participate in the Artist of the Month contest. Twelve winners are chosen for their uniqueness, creativity, presentation, individual art form, and excellence of their craft.

In addition to receiving special recognition for their achievement, their works are displayed and available for purchase in the Museum for their honored month.

Come support local artist of the month:  We’re excited to feature Sami J. Randle of Hays, KS this month at the Hansen Museum!

For the past twenty years, Sami J. Randle has enjoyed traveling, meeting, and working with top designers represented by Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and other leading companies in the fine jewelry industry. Sami earned her BFA in Design from the University of Kansas and an AJP from the Gemological Institute of America. While living in Texas, she also taught classes as a visiting artist. Sami’s designs reflect her passion for metal through intricate weaves and creative combinations of raw copper, .999 fine silver, and, upon request, gold and platinum. Each piece is meticulously cut, woven, and finished by hand, ensuring that every purchased design is a true original. Recently, Sami has added hand-strung pearls to her repertoire, with some of her pearl necklaces featuring precious gemstones.
