The Vollbracht Oil Painting Workshop held in the Community Room was a great success. Ten attendees, two from out of state, were fortunate to sit under David Vollbracht’s tutelage. They were a studious group producing a prolific amount of work as a whole, but also a fun bunch as sudden outburst of laughter would occasionally fill the Museum. Evidently, David isn’t only a great teacher, but also entertaining.
Paint & Palette’s diverse array of subject matter speaks highly of Staci’s prowess on canvas and gives the viewer a flash of her adventurous spirit. Staci, a strong representational painter, gives viewers a glimpse in Paint & Palette of a new path she is forging in her painting style.
Bold, generous, luscious brushwork stepping into the realm of abstract yet conjuring expressionistic tendencies all peacefully cohabitating with her representational roots appear to be the compass guiding her new path.
Red, white, and blue have taken up residence in the Crystal Tower, home of the Carol Bales Collection in the Dane G. Hansen Museum. Glorious red goblets upheld with delicate crystal stems have found temporary shelter on the top shelf. Second shelf refugees are antique hand-painted glasses. These tumblers are a unique shade of blue with lovely gold scrolling embezzlements. Crystal vessels fill the bottom two shelves bringing a very patriotic feel to the Crystal Tower.
The Independence Day theme continues in the Artist of the Month display area. Nancy Elting, July’s Artist of the Month, has incorporated stars and stripes in her jewelry display. Nancy uses lovely silverware to create rings, bracelets, key chains, necklaces, earrings, and many other beautiful trinkets. Recently, Nancy has started making bangle bracelets and has included eight of these splendid pieces in her display. Nancy’s work will be for sale through the month of July.
